J.Co DoNuts opens on Feb 25 at SM City Iloilo and Robinson's Place Iloilo

Finally the wait is over! Ilonggo's won't have to travel far to have a taste of the popular J.Co Donuts as the chain will open its first two branches in Iloilo (and the region) at SM City Iloilo and Robinson's Place Iloilo on Feb. 25, 2015.

Will you be one of those who will be lining on its opening day? The first 50 customers on the opening day at 10am with any purchase will get half dozen doughnuts!

Very soon donuts with fancy names and flavors like Al Capone, Avocado DiCaprio, Green Tease and BlueBerry More, among others will just be a few minutes away.

Ultimate Ilonggo Favorite: KBL Kadyos, Baboy, Langka

K.B.L. or Kadyos, Baboy, Langka is the ultimate favorite dish of most Ilonggos. It is also one of the most missed native dishes as kadyos and the souring ingredient, batwan , are hard to find when outside of the Ilonggo region. Basically, it is boiled/stewed pork dish owing its "deliciousness" to the combination of the soft and tender pork, the tamed sourness of batwan and the malinamnam na sabaw . One of the "secrets" of the malinamnamn na sabaw , is the fact that the pork, whether just the plain meat or pata (hocks) are first grilled or broiled. Suman Latik is one of my favorite native delicacies - plain suman/ibos topped with sweetened coconut strips or bukayo . Most of the time those sold in the markets have this two (suman and bukayo) already in one wrap and all you have to to is devour it. Lauya nga Pata sang Baboy

It was a typical fiesta scene in a barrio that I got to taste this cholesteroliffic and delicious pork dish. I can still vividly remember that decades old gastronomic memory - very tender and almost fall of the bone pata, vivid orange sour and sticky broth, large chunks of unripe langka; all in one big large kaldero !
