Around 30 minutes from the Jordan Pier is Springbloom Farms in Sibunag , Guimaras and right in the middle of it is a gastronomic escape. The newly opened Terraza at Camiña Balay nga Kawayan aims to contribute to the fast-rising Farm-2-Plate tourism thrust in the island province of Guimaras.
With a breathtaking view of Lawi Bay, the al fresco terrace can accommodate a large group of guests -around 50. Nearby are banana, papaya and pineapple plantations with occasional kasuy, chico and other fruit trees dotting the area.
With no less than the Atty. Helen Catalbas (right), Regional Director of the Department of Tourism 6 - Western Visayas as the guest of honor, Dir. Gerard and Luth Camiña (left) welcomed friends and guests to the blessing of their newest tourism venture.
Highlighting the event was, of course, a feast of the farms produce as well as goods and services in the nearby areas. Farm-2-Plate Tourism explores the fresh bounty of a places and its locality.
Here are some fruits - bananas, papaya, mango, calamansi, star fruit, corn and others, all produce of Springbloom farm and nearby plantations. Native delicacies from a maker that supplies a large of Guimaras, also form of the the culinary experience.
Seafood like bangus and salmonite bought from fish vendor who sourced it from local fishermen, pork and chicken from a nearby piggery and poultry and vegetables grown within the farm. All these produce make up this wonderful feast that satisfied our tummies.
It made these beds so inviting that almost everybody lined up to have their relaxation time on them. The scenery and the gentle breeze made the afternoon pass by slowly - almost "stopping" at certain times. A few and short chit-chats they may seem to be but they made sure time pass by without our knowledge.
A great place to relax and enjoy - in fact "lunch in bed" could be another highlight. So I had this malunggay-spinach pesto pasta, steamed kolitis, bino-ug nga baboy, chicken adobo rice, grilled squid and laing shooters on my first plate...
And I capped it off with a freshly concocted mango-papaya-pineapple smoothie enjoying the breathtaking view of Lawi Bay.
