An avenue of great foods and dining concepts

When The Avenue Complex was built a few years ago, I was excited to see a new development in the Smallville area that eventually brought nightlife to a higher level in terms of food and entertainment. It offers a complete dining and entertainment experience that cater to different crowds and palates as well as a club, mini-casino and function rooms. It has a Filipino fusion restaurant named Bauhinia Filipino Cuisine, an Italian restaurant Amalfi Cucina Italiana, an American bistro named Bourbon Street, a Greek inspired joint named Terra, a steakhouse named Mojave, an all dessert shop aptly named Nothing But Desserts, and a coffeeshop Coffeebreak. It also has function rooms named The Venue, Golden B mini casion and a club, Aura. It's a one stop dining and entertainment destination when in Iloilo City. A few weeks ago, together with popular travel blogger, Eric D of Byahilo travel blog, we experienced the best of The Avenue Complex upon the invitation of it's Marketing Manager...

Dishing out Greek at Terra

For a cuisine as foreign as Greek, the discriminating palate of the Ilonggos readily accepted it. And to celebrate one year of pure Mediterranean Odyssey, the restaurant introduces a total of 26 new dishes that will add a new dimension to its already vast menu of mostly Greek-inspired specialties. APPETIZING Whet your appetite with Greek Tortilla; made with tomato sauce, mozzarella and Greek spices sandwiched between thin pita breads. Try the Grilled Sausage and Peppers (served with roasted pepper aioli) or Greek Salpicao; pan fried beef tenderloin cubes in olive oil seasoned with Mediterranean spices. Or experience the bounty of the sea with a ration of Sautéed Shrimps...

One Terra-fic night of Mediterranean specialties

F or a restaurant serving a cuisine as “very foreign” as Greek, surviving for a year is already a good sign of acceptance to the discriminating Ilonggos. Serving simple kebabs, walnut Roca and moussaka among others, Terra Mediterranean Cuisine opened its doors at The Avenue, a year ago. And to celebrate its anniversary, a total of 26 new dishes are being in troduced adding a new dimension to the restaurant’s already vast menu of Greek-inspired specialties. Together with some members of the print and broadcast media, I took part in the food tasting session organized by Chef Miner del Mundo held last Wednesday, April 27, 2011. It was a taste of what’s to come as well as enjoying their best sellers. Up first was, no, this isn’t piaya, but a Greek Tortilla. Grilled thin pita bread filled with tomatoes, mozzarella and seasoned with Greek Spices. It might as well pass as a simple pizza since the filling was rich and savoury, and yes appetizing – I lost count how many I got … Came next was a...
