13 Gastronomical Pitstops in Iloilo City

Ask Ilonggos (or just anybody who have been to), what to do in Iloilo City, the most likely answer would just be one word – punctuated with an exclamation point. Eat! And it’s nonstop eating one will get with this list of 13 food places, which in my opinion, puts in a nutshell the gastronomic delights of Iloilo City . A useful guide for tourists who want to enjoy the heart of the Philippines through their stomach. Breakthrough Restaurant Among the easiest choice is this restaurant along Villa beach that combines good food and ambiance for a truly relaxing gastronomic experience. It is often one of the first stops for balikbayans and tourists; Breakthrough is synonymous with the freshest seafoods. A row of their cooked specialties is displayed for one to choose but check out their fresh seafood section. You won’t go wrong with grilled scallops , shrimp kinilaw, sizzling crabmeat and diwal on top of the usual grilled fish and squids plus crabs, prawns and oysters. Afriques ...

Perri Todd's newest offering - Premium Burger

It was an invitation I can’t resist when Marc of ExploreIloilo said that Perri Todd’s had a new item in their menu; Premium Burger and it deserves a taste test. I asked myself how much more they can improve their gigantic and already good burgers. So around lunchtime yesterday, we trooped to Perri Todd’s new and improved restaurant in Jaro. As expected they barely had seats inside (air conditioned area) so we opted to get a seat outside... The lure of natural lighting plus the fact that only few eyes will turn to our table if we start the usual clicks and flashes were among the reasons we decided to eat “al fresco”. We ordered what we came for - Premium Burgers. It was a longer wait than their usual order for burgers - I noticed, aside from the fact that the al fresco area was now getting crowded. When it finally arrived, I still was awestruck with its size even though I’ve been there and had them many times. The first thing I’ve noticed was how the patty looked like – bigger than t...

Perri Todd's: Burger, pasta and chips!

As usual photos of gastronomical delights from Perri Todd's never fail to get my attention!S I share these Perri Todd's eats photos courtesy of Haldir07 from the Skyscrapercity forum. Again, it's Perri Todd's but NO burgers this time

There are restaurants that most often associated with a food item and obviously it's their specialty. Like Kong Kee for example, it's the restaurant that sio pao built and it seems "not so right" that when you're there but you get no sio pao. Or eating at Tatoy's Manukan and Seafoods but their native litsong manok is missing on the table. Perri Todd's Chicken and potato salad Perri Todd's Rib racks barbecue Thanks to LABETH of SkyscraperCity forum Anyway, as the title and the opening paragraph show, this entry about Perri Todd's is somewhat unusual since it doesn't have the item which made this restaurant now famous. Gigantic burgers are missing and in their place are salad and back ribs, which are just as gastronomically "exciting".

Perri Todd's: BIG burgers and chicken too!

Perri Todd's expanded not only their restaurant in Jaro but also their menu items, a far cry from what they offered almost a year ago. This is a sign of how big they'd become since then. Aside from their signature "gigantic burgers" and pasta, they now have whole fried chicken with sidings (mostly for take outs). Back again at Perri Todd's

It was around September last year when I had my first burger and pasta at Perri Todd's. It was a just "take out" since there was no eating area that time. The excitement of being one of the first to blog those gigantic burgers was the driving force that time. It was over pasta carbonara and cheeseburgers with bacon that I got my first dine in experience. (Well actually second but the first was without visuals so it was negligible in this case). Pasta carbonara looked really good and enticing but I didn’t like it as much as their pomodoro and bologna. The burgers were great, as usual. From the moment it came on our table, its size brings the usual ohhs and ahhs . But what under the (top) bun was the one I came for (to blog.). And it didn’t fail. I came in hungry but left full and satisfied not only gastronomically (though I didn’t finish my burger, I had buns left) but in “blogwise” expectations. Perri Todd’s surely has gone a long way since it opened eight months ago....
