Sweet Treats by Mae of Dulgies: All about cupcakes

You'll surely find yourself lost in gastronomic translation as this new corner at Dulgies Cafe is a very welcoming sight. In one spot of this sweet shop that started the dessert craze in Iloilo City a few years ago is one solely devoted to the (latest) yummy creations of Ms Mae Borro-Pido - indulgent cupcakes. Around 10 cupcakes were on display when I went there and I had the chance to have tasted every single one of them - now that's indulgent, so Dulgies! I love Dulgies nutty carrot cake and was glad (almost) the same recipe made it to this Carrot Chocolate Cupcake . It had no nuts if my taste memories serve me right so that makes it "almost" nonetheless despite the weird combination, it was one good bite, make that bites! More indulgent were the Cappucino Caramel Cupcakes . A rich cappucino frotsing smothered with caramel on a densed yet moist and rich chocolate based cake, what more can i ask for? Maybe another bite? Make tghat another cupcake. Anot...

Having fun with cupcakes by Panaderia de Iloilo

With eye catching colours to show their flavours, the cupcakes from Panaderia de Iloilo are very cheap and surprisingly good. A box of 16 cupcakes having 8 flavours sell for PhP100 so buying 3 boxes for my cupcake tree served during Mother's day two years ago was just light on the pocket but very visually rich and gastronomically fullFILLING. Cant seem to contain my "euphoria" over these cupcakes so here's another tribute to these little "guys". And here they are having fun under some artifically induced (lol) " ultraviolet light " condition

2 Birthdays and 3 Moms on Mother's Day

Even with five celebrants, it was a just a simple lunch. A mix of old favorites, a new recipe from a magazine and some out of the blue ideas made this year's Mother's Day luncheon. Linguine with baked chicken with creamy mushroom sauce from Yummy magazine's May 2008 issue. Old favorite Valenciana. Fried bangus in tausi sauce. The usual vegetable side dish, chop suey. Melt's in your mouth, pata adobado. Grilled liempo. Cupcakes galore
