A new look of an old favorite - Angelina's Buttered Toasts

Now it gets event better as Angelina's Buttered Toasts get a new look making it more appetizing even inside its package. A favorite pasalubong everytime I go back to Manila then, it just came as a "substitute" for biscocho but it became a very big hit. From then on, I always bring back more than 20 packs to satisfy the demand back at the office then. Good thing their take out branch offer discounts when you buy 15 packs above. Now who wouldn't salivate (yes, that's the term I use) to these crunchy butter and sugar topped pieces of bread that to borrow a popular tagline "once you pop, you can't stop". It had that addicting sweet and creamy taste that also forms around your lips from too much munching - lip smacking good!   I often dip these toasts in cold water to soften it on first bite buy still retains its signature crunch. There's something to the mix of cold water then the taste of sweet and cream plus that resounding crunch. Well...

What's inside my pasalubong bag?

What's a trip without pasalubong? It's almost like a vacation without taking photos. I got these Biscocho Haus paperbags for PhP25 pesos (smaller bags costs PhP20) to make my pasalubong even more authentic Ilonggo. Packaging is important for me so I have to package my pasalubong to make it good inside out. So what were inside these pasalubong bags? All-time favorites like butterscoth (PJ's Delicacies), yemas (Biscocho Haus) and buttered toasts (Angelina Bakeshop) to personal requests like thick piaya ( Wewin's) and banadas (Biscocho Haus). Even got boneless dilis and papered squid (squid flakes) from the grocery as bonus. So what's inside your pasalubong bag?

Angelina's buttered toasts, the comeback

This would be my second post on this item since the first one had limited images and this time it's the images that would "make" this post. This item would complete my pasalubong "triumvirate" together with biscocho haus' butterscotch and yemas. Unlike most buttered toasts in the market, this one is sort of crosses the line of almost being a biscocho. Whatever it maybe, it will surely be a buy since its more affordable at P30 per pack and it tastes better than most buttered toasts and biscocho. Aside from butter and sugar, it also has milk so it triples the goodness! This product became so successful that Tibiao, patterned their biscocho somewhat like this buttered toast.

Angelina Bakeshop's Buttered Toasts

A favorite snack of mine turned into a must-bring pasalubong item everytime I go back to Manila from my vacation. It was by "accident" really. It was my first vacation from my first job and being the only one from the south it was really an "obligation" for me to bring something back (after being approved a 2-week vacation). Aside from the usual piaya and sweets, I had to bring something uniquely Ilonggo and I had my sights on biscocho. But then biscocho packs were large and that time would create a big dent on my finances, so I opted for these small, biscocho look-alike treats. With a much smaller packaging, it was easier to distribute and costs much less. I just cant believe my luck with these "lowly" buttered toast. It was a humongous hit, that last November I sent around 100 packs to Manila.
