Iloilo Bird House snackshop

Nope, this is not an aviary in the city but rather small foodshop located at the St. Elizabeth Center along Valeria street. Serving short orders like sandiwches, pancit, pasta, pizza and other food items, it's claim to fame, so to speak, are their cakes and pastries. With an affordable menu, its a very good place to simply relax while watching the hustle and bustle of the city. Though they are not as fancy as those big name bakeshops they have items worthy of praise. Two of their best sellers are the buttered chiffon cake slices and lemon squares. Their chicken pie is also a personal favorite. Finally was able to squeeze in some time to visit this foodshop again. Luckily, it was empty that time so I had the whole place by myself asking several questions and taking some pictures. I settled for their pancit palabok and apple crumble pie. I also bought some choco beehives to compliment my cupcake tree.

"Thank you for not dieting"

My recent Birdhouse (food) trips I've been wanting to try their pancit molo for so long that I made sure I ordered it during my next visit. I complimented it with bacon cheeseburger and silvanas. In the end, it was the silvanas that saved the day. A quick for two snack at the Birdhouse recently turned out to be a feast since our table was almost overflowing with goodies. We had two silvanas, a sans rival, an apple pie, a chicken pie and buttered chiffon. We also had a mix pizza as our last minute order. (Pictures of other items in the previous entries) Together with an avocado shake and a clear soda, it was still light on the pocket, around 220 pesos. We surely "welcomed" the snackhouse's motto (hanging on the wall) of "Thank you for not dieting."

The Bird House (again!)

This is one place where you can truly relax while feasting on almost all what they have. Relax , in the sense that you can almost always have the place on your own and feast, because your budget will go a long way. For this visit I had their specialty, buttered chiffon and lemon square. I also tried their mixed pizza, though it was nothing to rave about. Its just a mix of their other pizza toppings; ham, cheese, sardines. But their crust was really thin, just like a hard pita or better yet like Piaya crisps After finishing off these three my eyes fell on their ham and cheese bread. Almost as big as my palm, this got me curious so I got one. Its a simplified calzone but for 22 pesos it was worth it though not something to be raved about. The bread was much better than the filling, I must say.

Dulgies overload

A visit to this cafe will always be credited with a blogpost. Yesterday's lunch for two consisted of a sandwich, a pasta and of course, cakes. Creamy sausage pasta... Linguine in white sauce with two kinds of sausages. D Club sandwich. Usual club sandwich fillings on a not so usual bread, one made of black rice. Midnight caramel cake. Cream filled chocolate cake with caramel sauce. Blueberry cheesecake. Still a good order even if its usual
