Pancit Palabok "buffet" at The Promenade - Days Hotel Iloilo

For Pancit Palabok lovers like me, there's nothing much more awesomely delicious than having a make-your-own and and all-you-can-eat pancit palabok! Just imagine unlimited forkfuls of this delicious Pinoy noodle concoction and its only limitation is your own appetite! That's why I love the Sunday Family Feast Buffet at The Promenade at Days Hotel Iloilo because it offers this "buffet within a buffet".  Sandwiched by the Appetizers and Fresh Salad stations, the Pancit Palabok station offers almost 10 ingredients for you to make a pancit palabok that suits your own taste. Starting with the bihon noodles and the thick pabalok sauce, you can add toppings like tinapa (smoked fish), sauteed squid, chicharon and hardboiled egg. You can add more flavour using fried garlic, fish sauce and scallions. Don't forget to squeeze a calamansi or two to add more zest to your very own pancit palabok.  And now it's time for me to salivate with my very own creation, r...

In time for the Holidays, The Promenade at Days Hotel Iloilo introduces 10 brews and booze that will tickle the beverage fantasies of its guests with its wide variety refreshingly delicious concoctions. Divided into alcoholic and non-alcoholic variants, each comes with a a twist that will certainly make the Yuletide celebration more festive. Together with the Iloilo Bloggers, we enjoyed an afternoon tasting all these brews and booze, comparing drinking notes and sharing our what we enjoyed the most.  Let's start with the Non-Alcoholic line-up and my favorite is the Christmas EggNog (a concoction of fresh milk and pasteurised raw eggs) which can be served hot or cold - I prefer the latter. Hot drinks include the Red Velvet Choco (a whipped cream topped hot drink version of the well-loved cake) and S'Mores Hot Cocoa - chocolates, Grahams and marshamallow you can gulp! Coolers were Cranberry Holiday Splash made with cranberry and lemon juice with honey and Crimson Cola - ...

Baked Siopao at The Promenade, Days Hotel Iloilo

It was more than curiosity satisfied when I had my first bite of The Promenade's baked sio pao . Part of Days Hotel Iloilo's  Dimsum Tea Afternoon , it was only a few days ago when I actually found out about this on the menu. I already love the regular mini sio pao served during their buffets so I didn't bother having siopao during this dim sum time.  But it was a gastronomic regret that I found out about it later when it should have been months ago. I could have enjoyed it much earlier and eaten more. So what's the difference between this baked sio pao from their regular sio pao? While the filling remains the same (pork asado), the "bun" is actually made with soft and fluffy bread with a hint of mild sweetness. A serving with 2 pieces costs PhP75 and I think I can finish three servings or even more! And I'll find out very soon as I troop back again to The Promenade and make up for the "lost" gastronomic time for their baked siopao. PS I ...

Cobb Salad and more at Days Hotel Iloilo's American Lunch Buffet

Made with hard-boiled eggs, avocado, tomato, grilled or roasted chicken (not fried), bacon, cheese onions and lettuce, the Cobb Salad was created in the 1930's and named after Robert H.Cobb, owner of a chain of American chain of restaurants called Brown Derby. This classic American salad headlines a week-long gastronomic celebration at The Promenade at Days Hotel Iloilo as it celebrates Fourth of July with an American Lunch Buffet starting today, June 29 until July 3. And on July 4, its Indulgence Saturday Dinner Buffet goes American! So after the Cobb Salad, I set my eyes on the Potato Salad right next to it and eventually concocted my favorite Pineapple-Carrot-Cucumber-Jicama Salad with thousand island dressing. When my "Salad Days" was over, I had some New England Chowder before I trooped over to the appetizer station and had the classic Buffalo Wings... ... Beef Fillet wrapped in Bacon, which I gorged on... and mini Corn Dogs which I referred to a...

Dimsum Afternoon Tea at The Promenade, Days Hotel Iloilo

With almost 40 dimsum and other traditional Chinese dishes to choose from, its hard to decide which among these would come to the table. Good thing, I had help from two equally hungry friends who took care of this gastronomic dilemma. And all I had left to do was to prolong their hunger agony as I had my usual clicks and flashes session before we devoured these sumptuous spread before us. The Promenade at Days Hotel Iloilo offers a selection of dimsum and other quick eats every weekdays from 2-5 in the afternoon. Dubbed as "Dimsum Afternoon Tea", it comes with a complimentary tea which was perfect for yesterday's rainy afternoon. Even more perfect were these two bowls of noodles, Pork Asado (above) and Wanton which not only warmed us up but gave a us a delicious taste memories. I particularly loved the noodle itself - firm and just right to the bite. The soup was tasty and so were the dumplings - I even looked under the noodles hoping for more! And the kept ...
