Paho kag ibos

Mangga't suman (mango and sticky rice wrapped in coconut leaves) is a popular snack and dessert combination. The sweetness of ripe mangoes goes well with the blandness of the native delicacy making them perfect partners. Just like taste, it still is subjective, for I like eating my ibos just with sugar and separate from ripe mangoes. Though for this blog post I have no other choice but to eat them as they were "meant" to be - lol. But they are not as weird as the other in(famous) combo of what else - champorado and tuyo .

Mangoes from the town of Leon

If it's mangoes from Iloilo, it's got to be the ones coming from the municipality of Leon. The town is known to be the fruits and vegetable bowl of Iloilo because it's hillsides are suitable places to grow these commodities due to its cool temperatures. The most famous of which is the baranggay of Bucari known to be Little Baguio . This batch of mangoes were among the sweetest I have tasted and indeed they came from Leon. We also used to have boxes of green mangoes coming from there despite the fact that right in our backyard we have three flourishing mango trees. Anway the province may soon see these Leon (and other Iloilo) mangoes penetrate international market especially that of the United States.
