People on the go always have little time, that often eating at regular times seems like a luxury. Good thing there are those that cater to busy people giving them fast meals without sacrificing the quality and the food most Filipinos are accustomed to - rice. Rice 'n More has been giving Ilonggos meals-on-the-go that’s light on the pocket but full of flavour. Rice meals have never been this quick and convenient not to mention satisfying.
Together with some members of the Iloilo Bloggers Inc., I was invited during the dry run of Rice n More’s newest offerings that would soon hit the market. It consists of new flavours for their rice-in-a-cup meals and a new product – meat and veggie wraps.
Rice meals consist of chicken or beef strips mixed with assorted vegetables like cabbage, cucumber, carrots, corn and peas spiced up by tomatoes and onions. A variety of sauces makes the rice meals even more sumptuous as one can experiment on the combinations. All these done and presented within in minutes right before your eyes.
The basic flavours are teriyaki and barbecue with chicken asado as the flavour of the month. The up and coming months will see more flavours like adobo, hoisin, sweet chili, szechuan to name a few.Rice n More’s wraps consists of basically of the same – meat and vegetables, but all wrapped in soft tortilla. The same set of sauces gives more flavour and spice as one can also mix and match according to one’s desire.
We we’re lucky enough to have tasted all these flavours in just one sitting and even making our combos by mixing and matching the meat, vegetables and sauces. My combo had chicken strips, all available veggies and a szechuan-sweet chili sauce concoction that provided a sumptuous but hot and smokin’ lunch for me. Good thing iced tea was bottomless (during the dry run only). We got small portions of beef adobo, chicken teriyaki and other combos for taste comparision. Then as if to serve as finale we all got to enjoy portions of the wraps in all flavours that we basically had time deciding which flavour ranks as our favorite. One at a time, these new offerings will be available in all Rice n More stalls in malls around Iloilo City. Their branch at the Marymart Mall along Valeria Street is first to serve these new products (starting today) and next would be at the Iloilo Supermart in Arevalo.
The rice meals in a cup and assorted wraps cost PhP49 each and for an additional PhP10 it is served with fried egg (rice meals) or a cup of iced tea. Visit Rice 'n More outlets in our favorite malls around Iloilo City.
