Expect a lot of good ol' authentic Thai cuisine at Peppy Thai Deli in it's new swanky branch at Plazuela de Iloilo. Almost full to the brim when it's open, it's new location gives it more convenience and a better ambiance than ever.
No frills, no VIPs, no announcements - just words of mouth, “the one and only” Peppy Thai Deli opened early this year at Plazuela de Iloilo. Excited patrons poured in making its opening day a success already in the bag even at noontime. But none was more excited than I was – already there a little past 9am!

So I got to enjoy the restaurant without the crowd of hungry people craving for Peppy Thai’s specialties. Just like what the owner said “Still the same concept just in a new and better location”. Indeed, as one enters the new resto, a display of Thai dishes greet his eyes just like the old restaurant - still the same turo-turo idea. But with its strategic new location in a swanky new mall come more polished furnishings and finally an air conditioned area. Though it can only seat around 25 people, the al fresco dining area can accommodate twice as much. Given the accessibility and convenience plus the restaurant’s popularity it sure will be an SRO crowd during meal times.
Unlike before, where it usually opens during lunchtime and operates until the supplies last, Peppy Thai Deli now operates from 11am to 2pm then from 6pm until food lasts. It can now surely accommodate more Ilonggos yearning for authentic Thai cuisine. This is one of the best that developments brought about by their new location.Nothing much has changed really, the hat that serves as the customer’s number, was just right there. And I was lucky enough to get the first hat (just for photo ops-lol) - but I was really the first one to be there so I deserve even this photo op.
The casual atmosphere plus very affordable prices really defines this more than a decade old restaurant. The new branch still retains both though maybe just a few pesos more to cover up new expenses but still reasonably priced. Finally, what makes a visit to Peppy Thai Deli complete? It’s what one sees on the food display that even though some looks unfamiliar chances are it’ll become instant favorites. And for newbies, you won’t go wrong with my favorite combo – Thai fried rice, nam tok (cold pork loin salad) and fried papered squid. Though it seems an appetizer galore but surely its one good eat and you’ll ask for more.
Also try their other specialties like Thai pork barbecue, eggs with sweet and sour sauce, pandan chicken, fried tofu, beef and pork curry, noodle soups and a lot more. But no need to remember them– just make “turo turo” and have a gastronomically satisfying meal at “The One and Only” Peppy Thai Deli.
