A rice topping combo meal with drinks from typical roadside restos is usually around ₱500, pastries cost almost ₱250/piece as well as bottled soda/juice/etc around ₱90.

Food at malls and at HK Disneyland (₱1,200 for my Hulk burger combo) will make a dent on your budget… plus many more.

Good thing I found one turo-turo in Tsim Sha Shui called Eat More More that serves affordable food (for HK standards).
For only HK$ 33 (roughly ₱250) you get 1 rice and 2 ulam (becomes HK$40 with 3 ulam) Though it is still expensive when converted but it is already cheap when you spend in HK$.
They said that these RICE + ULAM shops started during the pandemic when most chefs were out of work and to make ends meet, they made food from their homes and sell - carinderia-style.
While most of these turo-turo are TAKE OUT ONLY (like the one in TST), I found another one in Wan Chai that offers dine-in (and they sell Coke for only HK$ 5).

One store in Jordan (next to TST) offered 3 ulam plus rice for only HK$ 38 and they had the best sweet and sour pork plus they give out free soup with meat and veggies.

I call these shops as the local “Panda Express” since they dont measure the food they put on your take out plate and very fast service too.
Just a nice smile will get you more serving 😁
My very first order. Spicy Pork with some greens |
So if you find yourself staying LONGER in HK just like me 🤣 these turo-turo are life and hunger savers for a fraction of the price.
My fave order at Eat More More Juicy boneless fried chicken 😋 HK$ 38 with another ulam of your choice. I don’t like this side dish I chose - looks like lotus leaves? |
