Throughout the country, one can usually find these layered-filled breads passing out as "pies". Buko and pineapple pies to be exact. In reality these are just flavoured and colored "cornstarch" with minute bits of buko and pineapples.
Just for fun I decided to buy whatever was available in the bakery today. Too bad I was late for their buko pandan pie. The buko and pineapple pies I got from sari Sari breadstore while the "authentic-looking" pineapple pie from a local bakery here in our town. The buko pie costs 5 pesos, pineapple 3 pesos while the better looking one 10 pesos. Their costs seem to justify how they taste.
