It’s a buffet of selected Japanese specialties they serve - all the Japanese food you can eat as you create your own bento meal. But it’s not like the usual buffet where you go around the set up and choose what is appetizing.
It was a few years back when I had my first “bento-bento” experience at Maki. While searching the menu on what to eat that time, Chef Ms Pauline Banusing, restaurateur and owner of Maki came to our table and easily convinced to try this bento bento experience.
It is a more relaxing buffet where the food servers present you with a list of what you can have in your bento box. Sushi and sashimi; appetizers, noodles and soups; teriyaki and teppanyaki; tempura; and rice. All you have to do is check one per category – you must be familiar about Japanese cuisine or just order what seems to “taste good” on the list.
That time the sushi and sashimi list was already worth it. Each order of California maki, New York maki, Crazy maki and Spicy Tuna roll brings in 4 pieces to your bento box. While the Futo maki, tuna sashimi, kani sashimi, kani sushi, tuna sushi, tamago sashimi and tuna maki give you 2 pieces.
The appetizers, soups and noodles part also have a good line up. Each order gives you two pieces of Japanese sio mai, Gyoza, Japanese Spring rolls, kani and mango salad and agedashi tofu. You can also have miso soup, beef sukiyaki and seafood yaki udon. Completing the bento meal are the teriyaki and teppanyaki that have both chicken and beef variations. And finally my favorite – tempura! At least three pieces of shrimp, squid, vegetable and oyster tempura on your bento meal.
It’s been while since then and finally some great news as Maki brings a BIGGER, bolder and better bento bento buffet experience! With more choices, bigger value and bold promo!
From Mondays to Fridays from 11am to 3pm, enjoy the full goodness of these Japanese specialties at HALF THE PRICE – that is PhP 122.50!
Promo period is from Oct. 3 to Oct 30, 2011 at Maki Japanese Restaurant in Smallville. For more inquiries, please call (033) 321 3885.
