The "NEW" Peppy Thai Deli

After months of anticipation, finally Peppy Thai Deli has reopened it doors last May 18, 2009. It is now located along El 98 Street in Desamparados in front of the Jaro (big) market. Except for the streamer, no other signages can be seen in their new place. It now occupies a two-storey renovated old house that is nowhere near the ambiance of their old place. But still loyal patrons come in droves as seen in the number of parked cars outside. It was past 11am when we got there and we had a hard time parking our car since the space was very limited. It was a little bit cramped inside in the "turo-turo" and dining areas (ground floor) that we opted to go upstairs. Even with windows wide open and fans all around in the second floor, it was still hot, of course it was noontime, but it’s the structure itself that cause the heat (trapping them inside). I also am concerned about this old house since it’s very "combustible" anytime. I hope they take extra precaution. Being m

Adobong tambo

An unlikely adobo. I was looking for a side dish for my chicken adobo rice when this ready to cook tambo greeted me from the fridge. It was dismay that made me create an adobo out of an unlikely vegetable since the puso ng saging I intentionally bought for that purpose became useless when I peeled it. I was supposed to make a sitaw-puso ng saging adobo but it never came. Though I still have my sitaw if ever I can get another puso ng saging . I just threw in whatever I saw for this on the spot adobo but it turned out great. It even looked and tasted like my usual tuna sisig. So after rounds of shots, I finally finished this experiment on tambo.

Paborita biscuits

I dont know why these biscuits are called as such. Could have been someone's favored biscuit at that time. With this one coming from JD Bakery, it seems its tastes almost the same as theur galletas, a smaller and compact version. Still another addicting snack.

Butterscotch by Breadway

This was an impulse buy just to complete my review and collection of butterscotch in the city. Breadway is just one of "those" bakeshops in the city but being part of Robinsons' grocery definitely improved its being recognized. For PhP51.75 per pack of 10's, Breadway's butterscotch is one of the more expensive but eventually didn't live up to it. My first bite had me compare it to an uncooked bibingka center in texture. You can actually see the "unbaked" portion in these photos. They were moist and chewy alright but it had almost a bland taste. This is a good example of a butterscotch riding on the bandwagon.

Ginat-an nga tambo

A favorite dish that is very much fiber enriched at the same time delicious. At home, it is almost, always paired with okra and tagabang (saluyot) with shrimps or crabs (or its mutilated parts).
