At last, the "North American triad" is complete! I finally met Cecille of Tigabaluarte . A supposed meeting with two more bloggers at Breakthrough but communication hitches got along the way so it was changed at the last minute, literally. I was on my way to the seaside restaurant when Cecille called and changed plans so I had to get down and get another ride halfway. But it was another unforgettable meet at the noteworthy Macavinta mansion along Gen. Hughes which houses a well known Iloilo restaurant, Afriques.
Over a pasta andpizza, we talked about, what else, but food! But it centered mostly on how our food blogs became almost a way of life plus the friends we met online and the things we shared and learned. Cecille told that blogging has now sort of influenced her family mostly when it comes to eating. (actually the photo sessions before eating) Cecille and I, plus her niece each got a different pasta and shared a pizza. It was interesting enough for me since all my last three visits to Afriques included their signature pizza.
It was a creamy carbonara for Cecille, a Sicilian pasta for her niece and a pasta anchovy for me. When the orders came, it was such a dismay since they looked they didn’t have any (presentation.) especially with my pasta anchovy. Plus that miniscule piece of bread with that “ugly” garnish made it even “worse”.
With anchovies, olives and capers dictating the taste as expected, it was a trip down the “salt beds” with my order. But I managed to finish it with slices of pizza to counter the saltiness. Though the other pastas were unfinished, never asked why, I'm sure we were satisfied not only gastronomically but with the talks we shared and the new things we learned.
Thanks Cecille!
