Luces in the Sky: 2010 Dinagyang fireworks competition

One of the most awaited events during the Dinagyang 2010 Festival was the fireworks competion dubbed as Luces in the Sky. The Iloilo night sky is set ablazed by amazing pyrotechnique displays from around 20 teams from different parts the country.

For more than an hour for two days during the Dinagyang festival weekend, thousands gather around SM City Iloilo to witness this 3 year old fireworks competion. Each year brings bigger and better fireworks display and more competitors to the delight of the Ilonggos and tourists.

K.B.L. or Kadyos, Baboy, Langka is the ultimate favorite dish of most Ilonggos. It is also one of the most missed native dishes as kadyos and the souring ingredient, batwan , are hard to find when outside of the Ilonggo region. Basically, it is boiled/stewed pork dish owing its "deliciousness" to the combination of the soft and tender pork, the tamed sourness of batwan and the malinamnam na sabaw . One of the "secrets" of the malinamnamn na sabaw , is the fact that the pork, whether just the plain meat or pata (hocks) are first grilled or broiled. The gabi (taro) is just one of those plants which is edible from "roots to tops".
