After watching the fireworks display at SM City around a week ago, dinner was next in line. The youngest member of the group, my 6-year old nephew called in the shots that time and it was fried chicken. Initially he wanted KFC but upon our very insistence, he decided to shy away from the fastfood chain. When it's fried chicken in Iloilo City, it's got to be Uncle Tom's.
And when at Uncle Tom's a pizza from the adjacent Piazza Pizzeria is an automatic "imported" order. This served as our appetizer that time since the restaurant was almost SRO and orders came in droves. Piazza Surpreme is my favorite among all the pizzas here in Iloilo City but that time it wasn't as good as I remembered but it was well appreciated by everybody else including my nephew who used a spoon removing all the toppings he doesn't want to eat.
Then it came, a family platter of choice cuts fried chicken. It was arounf 15 pieces and was a good decision on our part getting it rather than the 1 or 2 piece order. What can I say but still very good fried chicken and everybody agreed. My nephew even wasted no time eating and says it's as good or even better than his favorite.
We also had pancit bihon, cream of corn soup and bangus ala pobre as support - lol. There were five of us but we even took home some leftover chicken and pancit bihon. My nephew even had to walk around the place to spped up his digestion since he ate like there was no tomorrow - lol. Everything we had at the dinner table was well appreciated plus the ambiance and the service. Even if the restaurant was full, service was very prompt and fast (unlike that damn pizza chain at SM Delgado). The place is especially good at night for they have an outside dining area that has some pillows and hammock for the diners to fully relax and enjoy dining at Uncle Tom's.
