This would be my second entry for this famous buko pie. I braved commuting to Oton just to personally visit their store and hoping for some pictures within the premises. When I got there, I was surprised that it was just like a sari sari store in the outside with some boxes of buko pie on display.
I was also hoping that I can avail buko pie combinations; buko-pandan pie and buko pinya pie. But both were unavailable that time to my dismay and the storekeeper informed me that they are currently just preparing to cook them and it would take at least 1 hour. Furthermore she also informed me that Sabor Ilonggo carries Nang Palang's buko pie (with only 5-peso mark up for a box) for the convenience of city dwellers.
I got myself a box of plain buko pie among the only 5 boxes remaining. For consolation, it was a newly made one for it was still hot. As I waited for my jeepney ride I saw another stall selling buko pies, inquired about it and eventually buying a box but it was nowhere near the taste and consistency of Nang Palang's.
Though they almost have the same line of products as Nang Palang's, it was unlucky that they also ran out of combo buko pies. As my ride back to the city braved the very heavy downpour, I got myself warm with a hot box of buko pie sitting of my lap.
At home, I wasn't as eager since that visit my visit was a failure but eating a slice of this buko pie seemed to have melted my dismay and inspired me to fulfill my Nang Palang's buko pie combo's when the right time comes.
