Two Sundays ago, I capped off the month of January with a buffet together with friends at Emilion Restaurant at The Grand Dame Hotel in La Paz. It was an "International Cuisine" buffet that was scheduled that day and it was a perfect luncheon for all of us. I met with blogger friends Lee (IlonggoLivingInCanada) and Alvin (OhMyIloilo) past noon and together enjoyed eating and of course taking shots of all the gastronomic delights the buffet had to offer.
Though they have a separate Japanese buffet on other days, the International Buffet at Emilion also includes Japanese favorites like maki. It shared the table with the appetizers/starters like crispy kangkong, ceviche and cold cuts salad.
The main course include the chicken pringles and spaghetti. The chicken was rolled in what it seemed to be like "potato chips" and then fried. The name was actually better than what it tasted. The pasta was a classic recipe made with fresh tomatoes. They also had lechon kawali, a seafood chop suey, sauteed beans and a beef dish which I forgot the name. Their dessert station almost had no international flair for it was all-Filipino - not that I look down on our own dishes. They had this make you own halo halo station which I enjoyed - mostly making the halo halo to be photographed and not when I ate it. It had all the ingredients waiting for one's creativity to make a perfect halo-halo.Their desserts also included buko pandan, fresh fruits, gelatin and cakes from their JD bakeshop.
